TOP 4 DJI COMMERCIAL DRONES
TOP 4 DJI COMMERCIAL DRONES
When choosing a drone from one of many DJI commercial drones that they offer it can quickly become a daunting task. From the size of the drone to how many motors to even what type of payload you are going to put on, we want to help you in some fashion decide on what could be the best solution for you and your business.
Picking the right commercial drone for sale takes research and expertise in the field. Knowing what you want the drone to do for you is the first big step in deciding on the best DJI commercial drone. Most of these drones could be used for public safety, agriculture, and even aggregates with the AeroPoints platform. For this article, we are going to keep it simple and talk about four of the best DJI commercial drones that are available.
1 – Matrice 200 Series
The DJI Matrice 200 Series is one of the newest commercial drones in the DJI Enterprise Line of drones. It is also one of the best drones on the market today. The motto that DJI came up with for the Matrice 200 is Built to Endure, Engineered to Adapt. Not only is that a great slogan for it, but that motto is also accurate.
Built to Endure
Top notch high-performance motors with seventeen-inch props. Ensuring a level and stable flight is imperative when in the skies. Whether you are 10 feet off the ground or 400 feet off the ground knowing that you are going to be stable in high winds is reassuring. Having a drone that can fly a 7KM range (4.3 Miles) is great, just make sure you can see it as per Part 107 FAA Rules. 38 Max flight time is perfect for those extra long flights, but I think the best part of built to endure is the IP43 level rating.
What is IP43 Code?
IP (Ingress Protection) or an international protection rating is the degree of protection against the intrusion of solid objects like dust, accidental contact, and water in electrical enclosures. The ‘4’ means it is effective against most wires and screws. The ‘3’ means it’s effective against water falling as a spray at any angle up to 60° from the vertical will not be harmful to the drone.
Does that mean you can fly it in the rain?
To a degree. As with anything that has electronics on it or in it, water is bad, and even though this has a liquid rating of 3, I would say flying it optimal weather conditions is probably the best. If it starts raining, then I would highly suggest bringing it back in and stop the mission until the rain quits.
Engineered to Adapt
Adapting to circumstances when needed. The Matrice 200 is like no other drone. We’ve talked about flying in the rain and the extreme distance it can fly, but there is one thing the Matrice 200 can do that no other drone is doing right now. Multiple payloads, various configurations.
Zenmuse XT, Zenmuse Z30, Zenmuse X5S and Zenmuse X4S can be put on the Matrice 200. You can mount 2 of those on the bottom of the drone at the same time. Meaning you can have a Zenmuse XT and Zenmuse X5S on the drone at the same time. Do you want more versatility? Try putting the Zenmuse Z30 on top of the Matrice 210 for inspecting the bottom of bridges.
Even further adapting the seventeen-inch propellers and landing gear can be removed for quick storage. The gimbal mounting plates and aircraft arms stay in place for transportation making for a quick assembly when ready to fly in minutes.
Dual antennas create heading references that are significantly more accurate than possible with a single compass sensor. Precision positioning of one centimeter vertically and horizontally is made possible through dynamic differential technology.
The DJI Matrice 200 series drones are truly an evolution in the commercial drone market. The IP43 rating to the centimeter accuracy makes this drone the best drone for commercial and industrial uses.
2 – DJI Phantom 4 Pro
The DJI Phantom 4 Pro builds on the success of its predecessors. Who knew that when the original Phantom released in 2013, the revolution of drones would begin. Just four short years later we have the Phantom 4 Pro and the capabilities compared to the original drone have evolved into something only dreams can create. The Phantom gave rise to the phoenix that is the Phantom 4 Pro.
From the five direction obstacle sensing to the 4k camera, this is not your average entry level commercial drone. The Phantom 4 Pro has nearly all of the capabilities of the bigger commercial drones except it’s in a smaller form factor.
The DJI Phantom 4 Pro packs a 1-inch 20 Megapixel camera capable of shooting 4K resolution at 60fps. It is the first camera that DJI has made with a mechanical shutter which eliminates the rolling shutter effect that digital cameras create.
Each iteration of Phantom over the past four years has seen an improvement in fight time. The DJI Phantom 4 Pro boasts a 30 minute flight time. I have a DJI Phantom 2 and flight time for that drone was about 20 minutes or so. While I am not one to push flight times to the limit a drone that flies for 30 minutes is good. While not groundbreaking extended, flight times are not an issue with the Phantom 4 Pro.
We have seen the creation of four Phantoms from DJI now, and each one builds upon the last for an incredible flying experience. You can not go wrong with the Phantom line at all. From flight times to the safety factor the DJI Phantom 4 Pro is a winner in all categories.
3 – DJI INSPIRE 2
The second version of the first film making drone, DJI Inspire, is an evolution to behold. Filming in 5.2K in CinemaDNG RAW, Apple Pro Res and more. The DJI Inspire 2 improves on everything that made the Inspire great. Dual batteries and integrated obstacle avoidance make filming much easier than it already was with the Inspire.
Incorporated into the Inspire 2 is the brand new CineCore 2.0 image processing system, capable of recording 5.2K videos in CinemaDNG, Apple ProRes*2 and more. CineCore 2.0 is built into the aircraft nose and works with any camera connected through the dedicated gimbal port.(Currently compatible with X4S and X5S).
Sense and Avoid
The DJI Inspire 2 has forward and downward vision systems to steer clear of obstacles and the ground. The upward infrared system can detect obstacles up to 16ft above. It can follow the terrain and even fly indoors with precision.
Dual Heated Batteries
The dual batteries allow for flight times up to 27 minutes with the X4S payload. While not an incredibly long flight I am sure it will get the job done. Self-Heated batteries will allow for flight in low-temperature settings.
Need for Speed
I bring this up because the DJI Inspire 2 can fly 58 mph in sports mode, maybe faster with a tail wind. I do not know why you would want to fly that fast but if you want to, it can. There are videos on youtube showing how quickly the Inspire 2 can travel.
While this is a summary of what the DJI Inspire 2, the drone can do a whole lot more. It’s an incredible achievement in the drone industry, and it can only get better.
4 – DJI AGRAS MG-1S
The AG market was in dire need of drone like the DJI AGRAS MG-1S. While last year’s AGRAS-MG was an incredible feat, it lacked the camera that would enable much easier flying. With the addition of the new flight controller and radar sensing system, the DJI AGRAS MG-1S is destined to be the go to drone for the AG market worldwide.
A3 Flight Controller
The MG-1S is capable of high levels of reliability. Its algorithm has been optimized for agricultural utilizations, ensuring stable flight even with sloshing liquids. Also, the redundant design of the A3 includes dual barometers and dual compasses. If an error occurs in one sensor, the system will automatically switch to the other sensor to continue safe, reliable flight.
Radar, Radar, Radar
Three high-precision, microwave radars are placed on the front slope, rear slope and the bottom of the spray tank. Radars on front and rear slopes detect the terrain, allowing the aircraft to adjust its height approximately. The downward radar then provides high-precision height. As the radar’s scan, the MG-1S can perceive the change of terrain, adjust its altitude and maintain its altitude above the crops.
A new spray system enables more accurate spraying. With two compatible pumps controlling the front pair and rear pair of nozzles separately, there are now three spraying modes available: forward spraying, backward spraying, and full spraying. A new pressure sensor and flow sensor monitors the spraying rate in real-time, realizing dynamic control over spray speed and amount during operation. Nozzles with extended spray booms have been used to make better use of downward air flows. This spraying system now responds more accurately to commands, adding accuracy and effectiveness to spraying operations.
